Show : #BADASSTONES at Basement UNISBA, Bandung (18 May)

We played Bandung for the 3rd time last Sunday with fellow Jakartans, Amukredam. The venue was this empty hall at a university building complex. It was pretty awesome. Wreck was awesome considering how young the band is (it was only their 2nd or 3rd show). They will be a force to be reckoned with in the future for sure. MDAE from Jogja killed it as well with their post-punk/garage/grunge hybrid and i'm happy to have found another rockin' three-piece. Thank you Ruang Kecil Records and Sekte Gotong Royong for organizing the show!

Show : VOLUME at UNISBA, Bandung this Saturday (May 4th)

We will be back in Bandung for the 2nd time ever this Saturday! The line-up is a bit random, and I will admit having not heard about half of those bands, but hey it's good to get out of your comfort zone, right? Tell all your Bandung friends to come and hang out! See you!

Recap : Bandung Show on February 17th with Amukredam

So we did our first ever show in Bandung recently with fellow Jakartans, Amukredam. We got there a few hours before the show started so we actually got to see every single band played. This is not in any way a comprehensive report but hopefully will give some insights to what the show was about.

Safe House Bistro is a relatively new venue that has been utilized for Bandung DIY gigs for the past few weeks. It's a very modest cafe that looks more like a house than anything, so naturally we were stoked. I wish Jakarta had venues close to this shape or form. I think it's also worth mentioning that the venue is not off the main roads so it had a very relaxed and chilled-out atmosphere to it. It was relatively similar to how things were in Jogjakarta. 

 














Terapi Urine was about to play and they looked like they could've been Club 80's tribute band with their sporty attires. From the very get go, it's obvious that they knew how to have fun and fun they were! They played a modern-grindcore with lots of wit and humour and executed a few 'tricks' during their performance that made them very memorable that afternoon. Wasted Boys Project is consisted of younger looking kids, playing somewhere between early 00's metalcore and more modern post hardcore/screamo stuff. While there are plenty of rooms for improvement, the potential is there. 

Amukredam had a very good set, despite their singer's Tomo not being 100% healthy that day. Fugazi's "Shut The Door" cover was a very nice surprise and hopefully it wouldn't be the last time they play it. WeThePeople was missing their original singer and duty on vocals was taken by Acil Fardiaz. Their newer songs actually sounded a lot more interesting than the ones on the EP with even further nods to Dischord records on the guitar department. I can't wait for their next releases. 

Singapore's Sjanse was next and they delivered an intense screamy set with a lot of emphasis on technicality. I can't believe how tight they were. The drummer was a lot of fun to watch because he's really good. Spiritualized Mammals shifted the mood in Safe House with their brand of psychedelic-experimental music. I wish i could remember all the instruments they were using, but there was at least one i wasn't really familiar with which only fascinated me even more. And yes, the singer did take off all his articles of clothing. Again.

 














Ssslothhh didn't really need much introduction as their brand of hardcore infused sludge/post metal kicked the SafeHouse in the ass that night. They were loud and yet really tight. They should've been the closing band that night :)

 














We played last and by this time a lot of people had already left because it was pretty late. There were unfortunately no videos so i can't really tell if we sounded like shit or not. But props to people who stayed to see our set, much love! 

 














Major thanks to Circle Split collective, Duo MC Anak Naga, Acil Fardiaz, Arfian, Rambo, Aditya Indra and all the bands playing, old friends and new friends. It was a humbling experience, thank you Bandung.
